Former general election candidate to seek Seanad seat

He contested the 2020 general election, picking up 4,760 first preference votes.

A former general election candidate has been put forward to contest a Seanad seat.

Following Seán Kyne's election to the Dáil, members of Fine Gael are on the lookout for candidates to contest the upcoming Senate election.

Thomas Walsh, a councillor on Sligo County Council previously contested the 2020 general election, picking up 4,760 first preference votes.

He'll now go forward to represent the Sligo-Leitrim constituency for a spot in the upper house.
