Fitzmaurice claims he won't contest next Election unless more rural TDs join forces

The east Galway native is worried rural Ireland will have less of a voice in the next Dail.

A Roscommon/Galway TD will not contest the next General Election unless rural independent TDs join together to enact meaningful change.

According to Deputy Micheal Fitzmaurice, independent TDs are not being effective on their own in the current political climate.

The local Deputy feels there is no point in contesting another General Election until rural independent TDs form a coalition to progress rural interests in the Dail.

Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, Deputy Fitzmaurice called on his colleagues to begin laying the groundwork for such a group before the 2025 election.
