A 'first of its kind' community park and sensory garden was officially opened in north Roscommon this afternoon. The Palace Neighbour Wood Park is situated opposite Elphin Windmill and features wildlife habitats and walking trails. Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council Liam Callaghan cut the ribbon on the new amenity. The project has been seven years in the making and transforms a former field into a public walking space.
Local councillor Valerie Byrne was part of the committee who brought the project to fruition. Speaking to me earlier she said it was a great day for Elphin:
