The organiser of a local festival is criticising the lack of state funding for similar events in rural Ireland. The Arigna Community Festival wrapped up on Saturday, with the official opening of a new AstroTurf pitch and walking trail.
The four-day programme of events marked the 35th anniversary of the closure of Arigna mines. One of the organisers, John Lynch, says more state funding is needed to help these events:
