Fears re-zoning of historic Ardagh House & Demesne could damage future tourism projects

The petition has reached over 120 signatures in less than 24 hours

Locals in Ardagh County Longford are calling for public support in order to stop the rezoning of a historic building and lands within the village.

The Ardagh Preservation Society has launched a petition following a submission by the owners of Ardagh House and Demesne to have the lands and house re-zoned from tourism to residential and agriculture respectively.

Consultants acting on behalf of the owners, Ardagh Demesne LTD have lodged the submission to the Longford Draft County Development Plan 2021-2027.

The Demesne has existed since 1703, while Ardagh House is thought to have been built during the 1730s.
