The IFA says the current direction of CAP and the governments Climate Action Bill could shut down commercial farming in Ireland

Farmers from across the region are taking part in a day of action to highlight concerns over CAP reform climate action.

The Stand Up for Farming Campaign will see up to 100 farmers in tractors or cars drive through their local towns of Longford, Castlerea and Manorhamilton this morning to raise awareness of the importance of a strong farming sector to local economies and communities.

The action is being limited in line with Covid 19 guidelines and also to minimise disruption to shoppers and businesses.

Chair of Roscommon IFA John O' Connor says there's a very real threat to Irish farming if the current proposals are implemented.
