The Roscommon-based family of an engineer being held in Iraq has described their situation as absolute hell.
Australian engineer Robert Pether was sentenced to five years in jail after a contractual dispute between his company and the government in Iraq.
His wife and children, who are Irish citizens live in Elphin and met politicians in the Dáil today and spoke to Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney.
