Expressions of interest have opened for an expansion of a local walkways and trails scheme.
Funding of €2.4million for a further 70 walkways to be added to the "Walks Scheme" was announced by Minister Heather Humphreys in Castlerea today.
The scheme provides funding to landowners and farmers to maintain and develop trails that travel across their land.

A number of trails in the Shannonside region are already part of the scheme including the Lough Gara Way in Roscommon and the Arroo trail in Leitrim.
Any groups interested in applying to the scheme are encouraged to contact their local development company to make an expression of interest.
