ESB working to solve ongoing Rooskey power outages

Area Manager Pat Nugent said efforts were underway to clear fallen trees and create a corridor for powerlines.

The ESB says it's working to solve ongoing power outage issues in the Rooskey area.

Over 100 people attended a public meeting in the village last night to express their anger over long-term electricity blackouts. An ESB Networks representative told those present that problem forestry was impacting on supply in the locality. Area Manager Pat Nugent said efforts were underway to clear fallen trees and create a corridor for powerlines.

Speaking to Shannonside News, he said he hoped to see major improvements ahead of a further meeting in coming weeks:

Maintenance of existing forestry and cut back limits were also highlighted as major issues by residents and public representatives. Cllr Valerie Byrne was among a number of attendees calling on forestry officials to ensure power lines were given sufficient space:
