ESB Networks are set to carry out works to strengthen the resilience of the electricity network in areas of the Shannonside region that were worst affected by Storm Eowyn. A significant part of the work involves identifying and addressing risks posed by forestry that may potentially impact the electricity infrastructure in advance of future extreme weather events.
Works will be conducted in 11 counties over the coming months including Leitrim, Longford and Roscommon. Leitrim Councillor Gary Prior has welcomed the proposed works:
