ESB admits some homes could face second night without power

The ESB admits that some homes in the Shannonside region may be facing into a second successive night without electricity.

Dozens of faults remain in towns and villages across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.

The ESB has confirmed that crews will continue working until nightfall to reconnect as many customers as possible.

However, with 1,800 individual fault sites remaining on the network, they have warned some customers in impacted areas will be without power tonight.

Nine separate faults remain in the wider Ballinasloe area, as well as four across Roscommon town, four in Drumshanbo and two in the grand/Abbeylara area of Longford.
