The yellow material was found in Lough Key in Boyle, Errit Lake in Gorthaganny and on cars in west Roscommon over the weekend.

A local environmental scientist says a dust-like substance found in Roscommon lakes is very likely to be pine pollen.

The yellow material was found in Lough Key in Boyle, Errit Lake in Gorthaganny and on cars in west Roscommon over the weekend.

There were concerns, raised by Independent MEP Luke 'Ming' Flanagan, that someone had poured paint into the Gorthaganny lake.

But Jack O'Sullivan, from Castlepollard in Co Westmeath, says that's not the case.
