Anyone who might have noticed any suspicious on the roadside outside Ardagh village in Longford this week is being asked to contact the environment section at Longford council.
It follows the dumping of several mattresses on the road outside the village which is a former national Tidy Towns winner.
Residents have expressed shock and disgust at the dumping incident and Longford Environmental Officer Gary Brady says they began to get calls almost immediately after.

He says the dumping was not only illegal but was very dangerous from a road safety point of view.
