The archaeologists who found the skeletons and beads brought in videographers and photographers to capture the discoveries before the excavations were filled in again

The archaeologists who discovered human skeletons just below the surface of a road in Ballinasloe hope to produce a publication on their findings.

The finds were made some months ago during excavation work on a street enhancement programme in the east Galway town.

A number of skeletons were found only a few inches below the surface on Society Street close to a small well type structure.

A set of bone rosary beads were also found around the feet of one of the skeletons.

It's believed the area was used as a burial ground between the late 1400's and the mid 1600's.

Angela Wallace from Atlantic Archaeologists who worked on the project says they are working with the local council to produce a small booklet about the discoveries.
