Criticism of proposed development of apartments overlooking school yard in Mohill

A motion was brought forward by Fine Gael Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire to revisit the proposals for the development at Castle Street in Mohill.

There was strong opposition to the proposed development of four one bedroom apartments overlooking a school yard at the latest Carrick on Shannon Municipal District meeting. A motion was brought forward by Fine Gael Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire to revisit the proposals for the development at Castle Street in Mohill. Multiple councillors stated that parents whose children attend the Hunt National School are concerned about the proposals.

However, in response to the concerns raised, Leitrim County Council advised the councillors to look at the proposals again and said there is no facility to overlook the school when in an apartment. Speaking to Shannonside FM, Cllr Armstrong-McGuire said she had no problem with the development of apartments in the area but that the design needs more consideration:
