Current hospital levels are over four times higher than the figures at the start of June.

Covid hospitalisation figures across the Shannonside Region are continuing to rise as the Summer surge of the virus continues.

Current hospital levels are over four times higher than the figures at the start of June, with 123 people in local hospitals receiving treatment for or with the virus.

Nationally 885 positive cases are in hospitals today, with 32 of those in ICU.

Locally, 55 people are in Covid wards in UHG today, 3 of whom are in the critical care unit.

Both Sligo University Hospital and the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore are dealing with 25 covid positive patients each this morning.

While in Mullingar, there have been 11 positive cases of the virus detected in patients at the facility.

Meanwhile, Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe has seen covid patient levels drop to 7 confirmed cases today.

Today's figures are a mix of people receiving treatment due to complications from the virus and those who have tested positive incidentally.Co
