On Monday, the country's 14-day incidence rate was just under 122 cases per 100,000 people.

Covid-19 infections are on the rise in Roscommon and Athlone according to new figures from the HSE.

Updated information from the national Covid hub shows 113 cases of the virus reported in Roscommon in the last 14 days.

The Roscommon LEA has recorded the most new cases locally, along with the highest infection rate, 58 new cases identified in the last 14 days.

That's followed closely by the Athlone LEA where health officials have recorded an incidence rate of 235, almost double the national average.

Longford has also seen a minor jump in positive cases compared to this time last week, with at least 22 cases reported in the last fortnight, with those split evenly between the Longford and Ballymahon LEAs.

While the counties infection rate still remains under the national average.

Leitrim continues to record some of the lowest figures in the country, with the Carrick and Ballinamore having less than 5 new cases of the virus each over the last 2 weeks.

Nationally, Buncrana in Donegal has the highest rate, at 881 cases per 100,000 people - over seven times the national average.
