Councillors believe Leitrim firms should have benefitted from extra Local Link routes

The routes are being expanded from two to six

Local councillors are raising concerns over today's announcement of an extension to Leitrim's Local Link bus service.

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan this morning announced four new routes for Regular Rural Services routes in addition to the two existing routes.

The expanded services will cover areas including Dowra, Dromahair, Manorhamilton, Kinlough, Keadue and further into Sligo.

While Leitrim county councillors are welcoming an expansion of public transport in the region, several have voiced disappointment over the lack of local bus companies providing the new services.

Issues around the selected routes have also been raised by some local representatives.
