Approval has been given by the Housing Minister for three new social homes at the building on Main Street.

Additional funding will be sought in time for the development of new facilities in Elphin.

However, Councillor Bryne confirmed to Shannonside FM that a funding submission for this project was unsuccessful and the group must now try again at a different location.

Despite calls from some locals for new facilities at the site, the Elphin native believes the social homes will breathe life back into the town centre.
