Council urged to help Athlone man return home following medical treatment

Charles Murray suffered a stroke in February of 2020 but he's had to stay in a nursing home since his discharge.

An Athlone woman is appealing to Westmeath council for help to bring her husband back to live with his family.

Michelle Murray's husband Charles suffered a stroke in February of 2020 but he's had to stay in a nursing home since his discharge from hospital because the family home isn't suitable for his needs now.

Charles still needs to use a wheelchair, and his right hand and arm don't work.

The family's plight was raised in the Dail this week by Longford/Westmeath Deputy Sorca Clarke.

Michelle says she and her four children have had their family life taken away from them for the past couple of years, and her husband feels totally trapped in his situation:
