A special ceremony will be held at Connolly Barracks in Longford later this month to mark the 100th anniversary of its handover from British Forces.
The event is being organised by Longford County Library's Heritage and Archive Services as part of the Decade of Centenaries Programme.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday the 17th of this month and will include a brief talk by a local historian, as well as an ecumenical prayer service for all who served in the barracks.
Members of the Peter Keenan Branch of the Organisation of National Ex-Service personnel will take part in the ceremony together with Lieutenant-Colonel Joseph Mullins of the Defence Forces.
Everyone is welcome to attend the outdoor ceremony which will take place at 5pm at the barracks.
