Concerns Irish planning laws putting critical infrastructure at risk

It takes over a year in some cases to get decisions on large planning applications.

Ireland's complicated planning laws are putting the State at risk of losing out on investment and critical infrastructure.

That's according to the British Irish Chamber of Commerce, which is calling on the Government to modernise planning regulations here.

The group want to see the reforms made so that renewable energy projects can be built as soon as possible.

Deputy Director General Paul Lynam says it can take over 15 months to get a decision in some cases:
