The complaints were made over the last year

Over 1,600 complaints were made to Irish Rail last year over two local routes serving the Shannonside FM Region.

The Dublin Connolly to Sligo route traveling through towns such as Mullingar, Longford, Carrick on Shannon and Boyle along with the Dublin Heuston to Athlone route servicing Athlone, Roscommon and Castlerea were the subject of a FOI request from Shannonside FM News.

The details released to the news room show a significant number of complaints made over the 12 months.

Problems included issues with seat reservations, over crowded trains, anti-social behaviour and website errors, resulting in over 1,640 complaints made to Iarnród Eireann.

The local routes are two of the busiest in the country and are used by many in the region as a commuter service, with hundreds on each train daily.
