Close to 1,000 Ukrainian children enrolled in local schools

There are currently 930 Ukrainian students enrolled in schools across the Shannonside region as of the start of February.

The figures were revealed as part of a parliamentary question by Deputy Jim O'Callaghan to the Minister for Education, Norma Foley.

Leitrim had the highest amount of Ukrainian pupils enrolled with 420.

Roscommon was closely behind with 328 whilst Longford had the lowest amount of students enrolled with just 182.

Nationally there is over 18,000 Ukrainian pupils enrolled in Irish schools.
