Children from across the region are invited to take part in a national play day in Westmeath later today.
The play event will take place at the Regional Sports Centre in Athlone between 11am and 2pm and it's organised by the Department of Children as well as the local authority.
It hopes to bring together kids from Ireland and Ukraine in an effort to remind everyone, young and old, of the fundamental importance of taking times for fun and laughter.

The family day will host a number of activities, music and information stands from several support agencies.
