Josephine Feehily says the new status for Athlone and Limerick university will result in a bigger profile for the region and will increase its attractiveness for business

The Chairperson of the new governing body for the Technological University of the Shannon says the new status for Athlone and Limerick can bring major benefits for the surrounding areas.

Josephine Feehily who was one of the keynote speakers at last Fridays official launch of the new education institution says the wider offering of the new university will attract more attention from business both in Ireland and abroad.

She says the fact that the university can offer more diverse courses and industry led development will lead to the local regions becoming more attractive as a location to do business in and establish new industries.
