Roscommon SPCA has confirmed a cat which presented with serious injuries earlier this week has died.
It was believed the cat may have been shot after its suffered serious chest injuries - however, following an inspection, no pellets were found in its wounds.
The SPCA says the animal died shortly after an operation to clean up the wounds and x-ray of the injuries.

The charity has sought funds from the public to try and pay for its care and they have now confirmed that money raised will be spent on caring for future animals that need their help.
