Landowners and residents along the routes are raising concerns over the impact of the new road in their area.

Local Councillors have called for an extension to the deadline for public submissions on the proposed N4 Carrick on Shannon/Dromod bypass.

At this week's meeting of the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, three councillors submitted motions urging Leitrim County Council to engage with ARUP Consulting to extend the closing date for public submissions over the road project to mid-July.

The current deadline is the 25th of June.

People are able to book appointments with the design team but concerns have been expressed that an additional two-week online consultation granted is not adequate enough for the major road project.

Councillors Sean McGowan, Thomas Mulligan and Finola Armstrong Maguire all submitted similar proposals calling for the 4-week extension, which was then supported by local representatives.

Councillor McGowan says people who have difficulty accessing the online information need to be given more time to have their voice heard:
