The Breastcheck mobile screening unit will be returning to Athlone next month.
The news was confirmed by the HSE in a letter sent to Minister of State Peter Burke
The screening service last provided scans at St Vincent's Care Centre in the town.

The next round of breast screening will begin on the week starting Monday, August 21st.
The programme offers all women between the ages of 50 and 69 a mammogram free of charge every two years.
