Boy driving car killed in Limerick road crash

The car collided with a truck just outside of Adare village in the early hours of this morning.

A 12-year-old boy has been killed after the car he was driving collided with a lorry in Co Limerick.

It happened on the outskirts of Adare at around 2 o'clock this morning.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has now been removed to the morgue at University Hospital Limerick.

A man in his 40s who was driving the truck did not need hospital treatment.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses, especially anyone who may have dash-cam footage.

Limerick journalist David Raleigh says the young boy was about to turn 13.
