Boy dies following Dublin swimming accident

He was rushed to hospital but died in the early hours of this morning.

A teenage boy has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in Dublin.

He was rescued from a popular beach in the north of the county yesterday.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at Burrow Beach in Sutton at around half 7 yesterday evening.

The Irish Coast Guard was among those involved in the operation after a teenage boy got into difficulty while swimming.

He was pulled from the water and taken to Beaumont Hospital where his condition was initially described as serious.

The teenager was then transferred to Temple Street Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.
