Bord na Mona to suspend peat harvesting and focus on bog rehab projects

Born na Mona is suspending its peat harvesting activities and prioritising peat rehabilitation.

The Department of Climate Action and Environment says an enhanced bog rehabilitation scheme is being finalised and will be announced in the coming weeks.

Minister Richard Bruton says the government has provided 36 million euro to the midlands to ensure workers are supported during the transition to more sustainable jobs.
