Bishop of Elphin says Father Ray Browne's work in the community was extraordinary

Tributes are being paid to Father Ray Browne, Pastor Emeritus of Kilbride Parish in Roscommon.
Fr Ray as he was known, was 92 years old, and had served as a priest for 60 years, at first in Nigera and on his return to Ireland in 1958 as a curate at Drumboylan in the parish of Ardcarne, where he remained for fourteen years.
From there, he went as Curate to the Sacred Heart Parish, Roscommon Town, where he served for another  as a fourteen years.
In April 1986, he became Parish Priest of Kilbride, where he spent thirty-four years there, twenty nine as Parish Priest and five as Pastor-Emeritus, or “Grandfather”, of the Parish.

Fr Browne died this morning after a short illness.
Paying tribute to Father Browne , Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran says that though small in stature, Fr Browne had a big heart  demonstrated in his commitment to community development, both in his own parish and far beyond.
