Bishop of Elphin says church has to accept cancellation of confirmations with reluctance

The Bishop of Elphin says they were left with no option but to defer confirmations until the Autumn, given the government's decision not to allow church services return until Level 2 restrictions.

The six dioceses in the Western Region have announced the decision so as to bring clarity to the situation for parents and children.

The group has called on the government to relax restrictions around funerals to allow for 25 people to attend.

Bishop Kevin Doran says in spite of a series of representations, they have to accept the situation with reluctance.
