Average price of a pint now over €6 nationally

The average price of a pint is now more that six euro nationwide.

Figures from the Central Statistics Office show the average pint of lager has gone up 50 cent in the last year.

Those trying to save money by drinking at home are also being affected with the cost of cans of beer up 19 cent.

September was the 24th month in a row that inflation rates were above 5 per cent in Ireland.
