The average electricity bill in the Shannonside region increased by 124 euro between 2020 and 2021, while the average gas bill decreased.
Longford experienced the largest average increase in the region.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that electricity bills across the Shannonside region increased significantly between 2020 and 2021. Electricity bills in Longford went up by, on average, 163 euro in 12 months, from €1,095 to €1,258 per year Leitrim also experienced a large increase, from €950 to €1,093 per year in 2021. Roscommon had an average increase of €67 year-on-year. Gas bills in Longford and Roscommon decreased in those 12 months by €72. There was no data available for Leitrim.
The median price of electricity in 2021 nationally was €1.258, up 14% on the previous year's figure.
