Aughnacliffe, Carrigallen, and Creggs take home top honours at Pride of Place Awards

Aughnacliffe in Co.Longford took home top prize in areas with a population of 500 to 1500.

There was success for a number of community organisations across the Shannonside Northern Sound region at last night's Pride of Place Awards.

The awards were held in the Armagh City Hotel and aim to showcase and celebrate exceptional community development efforts. Aughnacliffe in Co.Longford took home top prize in areas with a population of 500 to 1500, whilst Carrigallen GAA Healthy Clubs in Leitrim won the award for communities helping new communities. Swanlinbar Development Association and Trivia House Cavan were runners-up in this category. Creggs Development Company were also overall winners of the Climate Action and Biodiversity Category.

Monaghan based Blayney Blades were awarded first prize in the Targeted Community Wellbeing initiative category

Meanwhile Cuilcagh Lakelands Geo Park in Cavan received second place in the Community Tourism Initiative category.
