An Athlone councillor has taken action following a bizarre incident that saw a man reportedly drag a large household appliance from his home and dump it on a green space in his local estate.
A large fridge full of expired food was deposited on the green of an Athlone housing estate late last week.
Following reports of the incident, Fianna Faíl councillor Aengus O'Rourke attended the estate along with the local Litter Warden and attempted to speak to the man reportedly involved.
When communication attempts failed, Councillor O'Rourke returned the next day, loaded the fridge onto a trolley and deposited it back in the garden of the man who had reportedly dumped it.
