Athlone Gardaí give 'heads up' on faulty straighteners

Gardai in Athlone are warning the public of faulty hair straighteners in circulation.

The hair appliances were illegally obtained following the dumping of 200 straighteners by a local supplier due to a recall.

While Gardai have recovered a significant number, some are still being sold on the black market.

The faulty product can apparently give electric shocks and overheat excessively when used.

The straightener is branded Alter 360 and Gardai are advising the public not to buy such items from an unknown source.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound Garda Sergeant Andrew Haran says the straighteners are extremely dangerous and anyone with information should contact Athlone Garda Station on 0906492609.
