The test centre in the grounds of the former St. Aloysius College has been set up in the last week as part of the response to a growing number of Covid cases in and around the town of Athlone

Athlone Gardaí are calling for witnesses following the burglary of a pop up Covid-19 testing centre in the town.

The centre at the grounds at the former St. Aloysius College was broken into some time between Tuesday night and this morning.

A Garda investigation is underway and a forensic examination was conducted at the scene earlier today.

The centre has reopened for testing and members of the public planning to get tested should attend as normal.

Local Fianna Fail councillor Aenghus O'Rourke who visited the site this morning says he was appalled at the scene left behind by the people who broke in.
