The mass vaccination centre in the Athlone Institute of Technology is to begin vaccinating people in the 65 to 69 age range from today.
The cohort are the first to be vaccinated through registration on the HSE's new Vaccine rollout portal.
The group will be receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine following it being deemed safer for older age groups after blood clots were found to be a possible rare side effect for younger recipients.

Those attending the centre are advised to bring their appointment details and photographic ID.
Operations at other regional centres such as the Newtownforbes centre in Longford, the Tullamore Court Hotel, Offaly and Bloomfield Hotel, Mullingar will commence operations in the coming weeks.
