Westmeath County Council had given the green light for the 300-house development on the Ballymahon Road despite a number of objections.
Akiyda Ltd were granted permission to construct the large-scale residential development, including a two-storey creche, in the Cornamaddy and Ballykeeran townlands.

There were 13 objections opposing the development due to such concerns as traffic, privacy and destruction to the local environment.
One of the objectors, John and Celine Gibbons, lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanala on environmental grounds last month.
A decision is expected in April.
