Gardaí in Athlone are appealing for witnesses following two incidents of robbery and assault in the town over the weekend.
The first incident took place between 9.30 and 10pm on Sunday in the Strand area of the town, where two men accosted another male from behind.
The victim was reportedly pulled to the ground and robbed of his phone, leaving him with a number of superficial cuts and bruises.

In a separate incident near the Glen Abhainn student village close to 10.30pm, a man attacked a teenager from behind, again taking him to the ground and stealing his mobile.
Anyone who was in the Strand area or in the vicinity of the Glen Abhainn Student complex on Sunday night is asked to contact Athlone Gardaí on (090) 649 8550.
