Alone recommends fuel allowance increase for Budget 2023

Alone is recommending the fuel allowance begin in September and end in May, with an increase from €33 to €53 per week.

Its also calling for an increase of €40 in the State Pension over the next two budgets.

The organisation has urged the government to simplify the processes for older people who are applying for entitlements.

CEO of Alone Sean Moynihan said more than one hundred thousand older people are at risk of food and energy poverty this winter.
