Almost 2,400 Ukrainian refugees now living in Shannonside region

There has been a slight increase in the number of refugees living in the Shannonside region.

CSO figures show nearly 2,400 Ukrainian refugees living here.

This includes an increase of 18 refugees in the Ballinamore MD since December.

Leitrim accommodates the highest number of Ukrainians with 1,259 living in the county.

This is followed by Roscommon with 707 and 429 in Longford.

Nationally nearly 75,000 Ukrainian people are in Ireland according to the Central Statistic Office.

46% of arrivals are women and 21% are men aged 20 and over, while 33% are under 20.
