Gardaí across the Shannonside Northern Sound region issued almost 1,900 fixed charge notices to the public over the course of the pandemic so far.
According to a new policing report, 1,884 FCNs were issued along with 189 non fine Covid policing actions in the region. The Roscommon/Longford Garda Division accounted for 527 of the fines, while Gardaí in Sligo/Leitrim issued 495.
In the Cavan Monaghan district, 684 Covid-19 penalties were earned
Gardaí in Roscommon and Longford also saw 43 instances of Covid policing instances, excluding fines, while Sligo Leitrim and Cavan/Monahgan recorded 35 and 84 respectively.
According to the report to the Acting Minister for Justice, Gardaí in the North West Region were forced to use spit hoods on suspects 27 times over the last year.
