Almost 1,000 local homes received energy upgrades last year

Almost 1,000 houses received energy upgrades last year in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.

According to figures from the SEAI, a total of 27,200 houses nationally had upgrades carried out last year.

The total figure represents an 80 per cent increase on the year before.

These statistics includes upgrades in Leitrim with 107 houses, Longford with 165 and Roscommon with 237.

Meanwhile, in Monaghan upgrades include 113 houses and Cavan with 351.

The SEAI also processed more than 50 thousand applications for grants in 2022.

A target of 500,000 homes must be upgraded to a B2 energy rating by 2030.
