Students will return to campus at Athlone Institute of Technology at the beginning of next month.

The college, which is due to undergo a major rebrand ahead of its merger with LIT, will accommodate students in second, third and fourth year will return to their studies on campus on Monday, 6 September.

First-year students will begin on Monday, 27 September and the college plans to deliver the majority of its lectures, labs and tutorials on-site and will resume work placements.

The I.T, which will become Ireland's third technological University this autumn, claims that it can bring students back into lecture theatres due to the high volume of people now vaccinated.

The return to on-site learning will include laboratory teaching and learning, tutorials, classroom-based teaching and learning, workshops, library access, and smaller lectures; larger lectures may continue to run in a blended/online format.
