Tanaiste Leo Varadkar was in Drumshanbo yesterday to officially open the new business.

A Leitrim businessman, who has opened a €3.5m visitor centre in the county, believes rural Ireland can enter a 'Golden era' after Covid.

Pat Rigney and his family welcomed Tanaiste Leo Varadkar to Drumshanbo on Friday afternoon to officially open the Shed Distillery and Visitor centre in the town.

The tourist attraction is set to welcome thousands of people every year- with an additional 25 staff also expected to come on stream before the end of the year to bring the local workforce to 75.

Pat hopes that in a post-pandemic world places like Drumshanbo can thrive.
