The rate of Covid in the Longford town area is two and half times the national average.

New figures show that 34 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the LEA in the last two weeks - resulting in a rate of 221.19 - well above the national average of 80.2 and up from the 174 rate of last week.

Fewer than five cases were recorded in Granard and Ballymahon in the last fortnight.

In Roscommon, the north of the county remains the area with the highest Covid rate - with 18 cases recorded in the Boyle LEA in the last two weeks.

Its Covid rate is just above 80 while eleven cases were recorded in the Roscommon LEA and less than five in the Athlone LEA.

Sixteen Covid cases were recorded in the Carrick-on-Shannon LEA in the last two weeks - with its rate at 140.8

Less than five cases were recorded in Ballinamore.
